Steps to take after receiving a refusal letter: reading the reasons, calculating the appeal deadline and choosing the right strategy.

A visa refusal is frustrating, but taking the right steps in the first few days directly affects the outcome of your next application.

1. Read the refusal letter carefully

The reason ticked on the refusal letter shows where your file failed to convince: the purpose of travel, financial means, intention to return or the validity of documents.

2. Note the appeal deadline

The appeal deadline varies by country and is usually 15–30 days. If the deadline is missed, the only option left is a new application.

3. Have your previous file reviewed

Small inconsistencies between bank statements, employer letters and reservations are the real reason behind most refusals.

4. Choose your strategy

If the refusal is based on a clear error, an appeal is the way to go; if the file is generally weak, a strengthened new application will deliver results faster. Where necessary, we proceed with the support of a lawyer.
